WIFA Inter District Championship: Host Pune, Defending Champions Kolhapur enter Quarterfinals

Defending Champions Kolhapur announced its entry into the competition with a 10-0 statement win over Nashik while host Pune made short work of Dhule to make it to the quarterfinals.

Day 3 of the competition saw some of the big wigs of the tournament step on the gas with authoritative wins over their opponents. The day began with defending champions Kolhapur smashing 10 past Nashik to book their place in the Quarterfinals. Last year’s runner-ups Nagpur to started brightly with a 6-0 win over Palghar, ending an impressive run of wins from the latter.

Meanwhile, Mumbai continued their dominant run with another clinical performance as they beat Jalgaon 6-0 to enter the last eight rounds. Host Pune too registered an impressive 6-1 in over Dhule to keep pace with the top teams of the competition.

In other fixtures, a closely contested match ensued between Sangli and Satara that ended in a 0-0 draw in regulation time. However, Sangli rose to the occasion in the shootout, winning it 4-2 to qualify for the next round. At the other venue, Aurangabad triumphed over Thane in a thrilling contest with the former coming away with a 2-1 victory, securing their spot in the quarter-finals of the Championship.
