12th February 2018, Jalgaon: The 3rd Day of Maharashtra Inter-District Football Championship for Junior Girls continued at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Stadium in Jalgaon. Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur, and Mumbai notched up a win to qualify for the semi-final. Tomorrow morning, Pune will play Kolhapur in the first semi-final while Mumbai will play Solapur in the second semi-final.
Here is the round-up of Quarter-Finals:
1st Quarter-Final: Pune 12-0 Thane
Pune District recorded a whopping 12-0 victory against Thane District which helped them qualify for the semi-final of Junior Girls Championship. Swara Pathak and Rahin Shaikh bagged four goals each in what was a spectacular finishing. Vardha Kannal scored twice while Roshini Pandit and Karanti More scored apiece.
2nd Quarter-Final: Kolhapur 4-0 Nashik
Kolhapur rode on Samruddhi Kotkale’s hat-trick to book their place in the semi-final against Pune District. It was Samruddhi’s 4th goal of the Championship. Niharika Patil added the fourth goal in the last stages of the match with a comfortable penalty to wrap up the game.
3rd Quarter-Final: Nagpur 0-0 Solapur (Solapur won 3-2 via penalties
Solapur’s goalkeeper Aishwarya Goyal turned out to be the hero as she saved three penalties in the shootout to win it for Solapur. Not to forget, Kalyani Kumbhare and Kajal Warathi stole the show. Throughout the game, the attacking duo of Nagpur kept threatening Solapur who defended well to keep the duo at bay.
4th Quarter-Final: Mumbai 12-0 Palghar
Mumbai equaled Pune’s record of scoring 12 goals in a single match in this Championship. With this win, Mumbai has qualified for the semi-final where they will face Solapur, tomorrow. Bhumika Mane added another goal in the second-half to complete her hat-trick while Angeline Antony and Christine Nazareth scored two goals each. Tracy also got on the scoresheet which completed a stunning victory.
