WIFA Inter District Championship: Host Palghar knock out Amravati; Nagpur move to next round

Riding on a brilliant hat-trick from Tanvi Patil, Host Palghar registered a comprehensive 5-0 win while Gondia and Nagpur move to the next round with comfortable wins.

Day 2 of the WIFA Inter District Championship kicked off with Nagpur producing a dominating 8-0 win over Bhandara to enter the Quarterfinals. Sejal Sonare opened the scoring in the 3rd minute to put  Nagpur in the front right from the start. Rinky Yadav then struck a quick-fire brace while Sneha Vicky and Reetika S added one each before the break to make it 5-0 at break. After restart, Mayuri Marathe added two goals while Muskan chipped in with one to make it 8-0 knocking out Bhandara from the competition.

In game 2 of the day, Gondia breezed past Thane to enter the Quarter-finals of the competition, Goals from Tripati Deep on either side of the break gave Gondia a comfortable lead before Swati Burle added a third of the game to finish off.

In the final game of the day, Host district Palghar annihilated their opponent Amravati on their way to a 5-0 win, qualifying for the quarterfinals. Tanvi Patil opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Samruddhi doubled the lead two minutes later, Tanvi then added her second midway through the half to put Palghar in a comfortable position.

Amravati soon managed to settle their nerves and solidify their defense but rarely looked to trouble Palghar in the attack. In the second half, Shreya Yadav sneaked in a fourth of the game before Tanvi added her third to cap off a well-deserved hat-trick. The game ended 5-0 in favor of Palghar as they booked their place in the last eight.
