Defending Champions PIFA will look to defend the title as the new season of the Women’s Football League begins tomorrow.
WIFA Women’s Football League is about to commence on the 13th of August 2022 as nine teams will battle it out for the title as well as a place in IWL.
PIFA had a perfect campaign last season winning all their ten league matches to qualify for the IWL. As far as the goals are concerned for PIFA Sasmita Behera has outshone everybody else having scored 10 goals for the defending champions and would like to continue the scoring spree this season too.
With the defending champions PIFA Sports looking to retain their title they can expect some stiff challenges this time around from the others competing in the league. The other teams competing are Kenkre, Kolhapur Warriors, Puneri Warriors, Aspire FC, Lawless United, Mumbai Knights, and Football School of India.
One notable team missing will be SP Football Academy the team that had ended the previous campaign as runner-up after their sole defeat against PIFA
Footie First having finished third in the previous season will also be a tough nut to crack. They would look to be more of a challenge this season and look to finish on top of the table. Meanwhile one of the stalwarts of Mumbai football, Kenkre FC will be looking to have a better season this time around after a rather disappointing last season.
But one of the biggest teams to watch out for this season will be the debutants Mumbai Knights. The Mumbai-based team had a stellar MFA Women’s League campaign with a clean sweep of the league. Despite playing their maiden campaign the Steven Dias-managed side will be one of the favorites of the tournament.
