WIFA Women’s Football League: SP Football Academy Surpass Kenkre, Snigmay Hold Next Sports Academy

SP Football Academy bounce back with a solid win against Kenkre FC in the first match of matchday-5 of the WIFA Women’s Football League. Meanwhile, the second game of the day ends in a stalemate between Snigmay FC and Next Sports Academy.

In the first match of the day, Kenkre FC faced SP Football Academy and went off to a flying start as Yumalembam Thailand Devi scored the first goal in the 17th minute of the game. Just after the goal, the SP Football Academy started taking possession and launched some fiery attacks and Neha Ture scored just before half-time and the first half ended in a stalemate.

SP Football Academy came back from the dressing room with more intent and took the lead in just 6 minutes to the second half through Neha’s second goal of the game. In the 87th minute, Mayuri Morey scored the third goal for SP Football Academy and doubled their lead. Kenkre FC’s Pranita Nimkar scored in the 94th minute of the game but it was too late for the Mumbai-based club.

In the second game of the day, Pune’s Snigmay FC faced Palghar’s Next Sports Academy. Both teams entered the match in search of their first victory of the campaign.

Next Sports Academy started putting pressure on the opponent from the first minute of the game. In the 15th minute of the game, Aditi Telkar found the net. In response, Snigmay FC began to control the game and canceled the opponent’s lead in the 35th minute of the game via Karuna Gehani’s goal.

In the second half, both the teams fought hard for the winning goal and got equal chances but had to be content with a point each after the final whistle.
