WIFA Women’s Football League resumes; SP Football Academy, Krida Prabhodhini, and PIFA Sports emerge victorious

After a break of 22 days, the WIFA Women’s League finally resumed yesterday with 3 matches held at Cooperage Stadium.

In the first match of the day, Satara-based Pacangan took on Thane’s SP Football Academy. SP Football Academy scored 4 goals and collected all 3 points while conceding none. SP Football Academy scored through Delfiya Pereira in the 35th minute. Ritika doubled their lead in the injury time of the first half. Mmehak scored in the 53rd minute and Valencia scored in the 61st minute for the Thane-based club as they collected all three points.

In the second match of the day, Krida Prabhodhini faced Kenkre FC. Kenkre opened the scoring through Harshika in the 13th minute of the game. In the second half, Kenkre failed to neutralize an inspired Krida Prabhodhini’s attacks.

Sakshi scored the equalizer in the 47th minute. Vaishnavi gave Krida Prabhodhini the lead with a penalty in the 74th minute of the game. In the 78th minute, Purva scored Krida Prabhodhini’s third. Later in the game, Aishwarya sealed the deal in injury time as the Pune-based club secured an easy victory.

Snigmay FC and PIFA Sports faced off each other in the last match. PIFA Sports started scoring early and did not let the opponents breathe even for a minute as they scored 11 goals by the final whistle.

Karen and Wandashisha scored their hat tricks. Trupti and Sasmita Behera scored their braces and Pooja scored a goal for the Mumbai-based club as they sailed through with a big win.
