WIFA has marked the 1st to 8th march as the Women’s Week. Women’s football development has always been on the forefront for WIFA. Throughout the week we will be WIFA will be highlighting starts of women’s football from the state and India. WIFA will also will be activating Grassroots Festivals all across Maharashtra encouraging maximum participation from girls.
The state association have conducted many activities in the recent times to promote and improve the standard of Women’s football in the state one of the recent ones being the MIDFC (Maharashtra Inter District Football Championship) – Women’s Open – Jalgaon. Where 240 girls participated from various district. There was a 50% increase in participation from the previous years showing that sustained efforts are baring fruits.

WIFA has also changed colors for the week in order to create awareness. This will be used throughout its social media.
For this Women’s week on the grassroots front WIFA has urged its award-winning grassroots leaders all 158 of them to conduct grassroots festival in their respective locations. Before the same WIFA conducted a seminar for the its grassroots leaders to come up with ideas for this special week as follows:
1. Small sided games with the rules created by the participating girls
2. Different uses of equipmentpresent
3. Match between parents and coaches
4. Matches between parents and participants
5. Fancy dress competitions (dress up as their favorite footballers)
6. Drawing competitions themed with football
7. Paint your football
WIFA has developed FIFA International Women’s Day backdrops which can be customized and used by the Grassroots Leaders while conducting their festivals.

Grand festival at Cooperage Football Stadium on 8th March 2015.
All the grassroots leaders and participants are invited to the grand finale of the festival on 8th March 2015 4 pm onwards. The festivals will be a girls only festival, conducted by women for girls between the age 6 to 12 years. The female guardians will be appointed as team leaders.
Also the Cooperage will be made available on prior booking for the Grassroots leaders on 8th march to conduct their own activities as well.
