The Training Programme for National referees retiring in coming months kicked-off on Friday (September 7) at the Assam Olympic Association Conference Hall in Guwahati, Assam. Twenty participants from 9 different states of India are attending the meet.
The aim of the Programme is to help the active national referees switch over to teaching mode and training the young referees of their state.
The training is divided into methods of teaching, individual presentation by participants, physical preparation of referees, live match assessment of referees, small group debate and so on.
Gautam Kar, Head of Refereeing Department of All India Football Federation (AIFF), said: “Lot of National Level Referees have been leaving the refereeing arena, after they finish their career as a referee. It’s because of a hollow path before them. Hence, we took up this Programme to tap the potential, train them and keep them glued to the main stream of Referees’ Development.”
Kar is in Guwahati along with other instructors Mr. J Ravishankar (Delhi) and Mr. Mrinal Kanti Roy (Assam).
Mr. Roopak Mukharji (Chhattishgarh), a participant, added: “We never knew there is so much to learn about Refereeing Training. We will go back much benefitted and work for Referees’ Development in our areas.”
