Scintillating Maharashtra drub Chhattisgarh

Bhagyashree lead the way as Maharashtra thumped 8 past Chhattisgarh team.

The match between Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra was an evenly contested game until the 40th Minute at which Bhagyashree broke the deadlock to put Maharashtra in the lead. Scorer turned provider, Bhagyashree with a pin point cross for Karen to double the lead as Maharashtra went with an advantage into half time.

Not wanting to rest on the 1st half exploits, Coach Durva Vahia rallied her team to take control and finish the game off.

The 2nd half saw strong midfield action and good attacking play from Maharastra with Smriti Girish and Aditi Shetty controlling the tempo of the game. After a passing move, Bhagyashree got on the end of a threaded through pass to slot it past the keeper to increase Maharashtra’s advantage on 53 minutes. Before Chhattisgarh could regroup, Maharashtra added two more in the space of 8 minutes to take the score to 5 without a response.

With the game comfortably in hand, Coach urged the team to play attacking football and score as many possible. In the end Maharashtra scored 8 to breeze past Chhattisgarh and set the tone for their qualifying decider against Manipur.
