Despite a terrific second-half performance by Kenkre FC, table toppers Rush Soccer maintained their supreme form to snatch a 3-2 victory
25th September 2017, Mumbai: The 17th Matchday of Indian Women’s League Preliminary Round saw Rush Soccer facing high-flying Kenkre FC at Cooperage Stadium. Yet again, a superb display by Nisha Singh led Rush Soccer to another victory as they overcame Kenkre FC 3-2 to sit comfortably at the top of the Preliminary Round standings.
Rush started brightly and went for the goal in first few minutes itself. Their determination quickly paid off in the 7th minute when star forward Nisha Singh pounced on a loose ball to score the opening goal of the match.
The no. 21 just didn’t stop there. Four minutes later, running down from the left flank, Nisha scored a spectacular left-footed goal which left Kenkre FC’s custodian with absolutely no chance.
Kenkre FC did create opportunities but most of them were ruled out as offside. Rush played perfect offside traps to inflict pressure on Kenkre FC. The trio of Manisha, Dorothi Oreya and Mamta combined superbly today which was evident in the second-half.
Just minutes into the second-half, Rush’s Deepika made it 3-0 with a close-range effort. After conceding the third goal, Kenkre FC stepped up their game and almost snatched a point from a losing position.
Deadball specialist Zinnia Devi scored a scorcher of a goal directly from the corner. With the clash heading towards the dying moments, Dorothi Oreya scored to cut short the deficit to just one goal.
Rush Soccer defended superbly as they stood firm and composed at the back. The table toppers held on and won a crucial game to go four points clear at the top.
