Mumbai win against Akola in semis to set up summit clash with Pune

The district teams from Pune, Amravati, Akola and Mumbai competed for a place in the final match of the championship on a bright Thursday morning at the Nanded District Football Association Ground.

The first match of the day was between Pune and Amravati in a match that saw a pretty one-sided affair. Pune won in a mammoth 13-1 victory over Amravati.

Pune began the game in a very attacking fashion as Amravati sat back and defended in large numbers. The resistance was broken soon as Mustafa Shaikh opened the scoring for the Pune side.

This left the floodgates open for the Pune side as they kept on scoring almost at free will as they scored five in the first half of the match.

The second half began in pretty much a similar note as Pune attacked from the offset. They scored eight more goals in the second half as they took their tally to thirteen goals past a hapless Amravati side.

Mustafa Shaikh and Yash Gangral grabbed their hattricks as they scored four and three respectively. Pratham Yadav and Franklin Nazareth scored braces with Lucky Shetake and Satish Kondemuri adding one goal a piece for the Punekars. Amravati’s Roman Khan scored a consolation goal with a brilliant strike in the second half.

Final Score: Pune 13-1 Amravati

(Mustafa Shaikh 13,22,63,66, Yash Gangral 31,42,58, Pratham Yadav 27,41, Lucky Shetake 45, Franklin Nazareth 33,38, Satish Kondemuri 47, Roman Khan 59)

The second semifinal saw Mumbai take on Akola for the finals spot in the tournament.

The game began with Mumbai taking an early lead with Jaden Irani scoring in the 7th minute of the match. Akola did well to hold the Mumbai attack with 10 boys on the pitch. Their persistence paid off when they equalized through Khizar Hayat in the final minute of the first half.

Mumbai began with increased intensity in the second half and were rewarded soon as Adityan AP, Jaden Irani and Karan Prajapati scored within six minutes to increase the lead to 4-1.

Jaden Irani grabbed his hat-trick in the 52nd minute of the match to put the contest out of reach of the Akola District side.

Final Score: Mumbai 5-1 Akola

(Jaden Irani 7,46,52 , Karan Prajapati 49, Adityan AP 43, Khizar Hayat 35)

Mumbai and Pune will face tomorrow in the final at the Nanded District Football Association Ground for the Inter-district Championship for Sub-Junior boys.
