Mumbai Police down Byculla United

Greater Mumbai Police put a good fighting display to overcome a in a determined Byculla United in Super Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) League 2012-13, at the St. Xavier’s ground (GSA), Parel on Monday afternoon. The policemen did well to hang on dearly to striker Nitesh Koregaonkar’s first half goal to emerge worthy winners.

In another match of the same division played earlier in the evening, Income Tax and Dena Bank shared the spoils as they were locked in a 2-2 battle. Nikhil D’Souza and Clint Fernandes were both on target for the taxmen, while Hemant Meher netted both the goals for the bankers.

Meanwhile, in a First Division encounter, Springfield SC proved too good as they blanked Guru Nanak SC by a convincing 2-0 margin. Dheeraj Shetty and Akshay Shetty struck one goal apiece to seal Springfield’s win.

Results – at St. Xavier’s ground, Parel – Super Div: Income Tax 2 (Nikhil D’Souza, Clint Fernandes) drew with Dena Bank 2 (Hemant Meher 2).
