Maharashtra Women’s team sinks Chandigarh 6-0

19th September 2018, Odisha: In the opening game of 24th Senior Women’s Football Championship in Odisha, Maharashtra trounced Chandigarh 6-0 to kick-start their campaign on a positive note. Maharashtra is in Group H alongside Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, and Chandigarh.

With only one team from each group can make it into the next round, Coach Sanaya Anklesaria’s side made the best possible start. It was Pune’s Aishwarya Balapure’s sublime hat-trick which set the tone for Maharashtra. The prolific forward made sure to convert all the chances which fell into her path.

Mumbai’s Pooja Dhamal and Sapna Jaiswar also had an outstanding game alongside Aishwarya. Pooja bagged a brace of goals while Sapna Jaiswar scored once. Maharashtra’s next game is up against Mizoram on 21st September.
