The Maharashtra team, which will be participating in the AIFF U14 Football Tournament for boys left for Kalyani this morning. The Tournament will be held from 10th to 20th November 2013.
AFC ‘B’ License Coach, Mr. Augusto D’Silva has been appointed as Coach of the team. He has been working with youth football for several years and was earlier the coach of the Maharashtra U19 team. He is currently working with the Kenkre youth teams. Zakir Ansari is the Assistant Coach.
“We have a good squad and we will try our best to go as far we can in the tournament.” said Coach Augusto D’Silva ahead of the team’s departure.
The camp for the boys was held at Cooperage from 24th October to 6th November 2013 and there were boys from all the districts of Maharashtra.
“The camp for the boys has been going for the past two weeks. They have prepared well for this tournament and we have confidence in them to perform well” said WIFA secretary Souter Vaz.
Ishan Kandwal is the Captain and Mohd. Kamran is the Vice-Captain. The team is placed in Cluster VI along with Delhi, Jharkhand and Arunachal Pradesh. They play their first game on 10th November against Jharkand.
