The Inter District Football Championship for Women (Open) 2016-17 kicked off with plenty of goals. 31 goals were scored in the four matches played.
Nasik, Bhandara, Yawatmal and Aurangabad progressed to the next-round of matches.
Nasik District Football Association 1-0 Dhule District Football Association
Nashik District Football Association clinched a narrow one-goal win against an equally determined Dhule District Football Association side; courtesy of a first-half goal by Mona Ujagre in the 19th minute of the match.
Bhandara District Football Association 6-0 Parabhani District Football Association
Bhandara District Football Association got their championship campaign up-and-running with a 6-0 thrashing of Prabhani District Football Association. Bhandara scored thrice in each half to book a place with a dominating performance; as goals from Aishwarya Budhe (8’), Archana Bhaladare (11’), Jaya Kumar (18’), Puja Dhande (28’), Roshani Kharole (39’) and Sharada Yede (52’) sealed the win.
Yawatmal District Football Association 14-0 Ahemadnagar District Football Association
Yawatmal District Football Association made a statement of intent, scoring a massive 14 goals, in their opening match against Ahemadnagar District Football Association. Yawatmal’s Sharda Kshirsagar started the scoring in the 9th minute, as no.9 Purva Bodalkar doubled the lead just a minute later on 10 minutes. Kshirsagar doubled her goal-scoring tally on 11 minutes, and completed her hat-trick scoring the third on 14 minutes.
Minakshi Deshmukh scored the fifth goal on 16 minutes. As Kshirsagar added her fourth and the side’s sixth on 22 minutes. Just before the half-time break, Deshmukh scored her second goal, as Yawatmal entered the second-half seven goals clear of Ahemadnagar.
Yawatmal scored seven more goals in the second-half of the match, completing a 14-0 win against Ahemadnagar.
Aurangabad District Football Association 10-0 Gondia District Football Association
Trupti Deep opened the scoring for Aurangabad District Football Association inside just four minutes. A second goal by Diksha Bansod a minute later meant that Aurangabad was two goals up inside five minutes. Heena Yadav (7’, 15’), Lokeshwari Rahangdale (12’) further added as the first half came into its closing moments. With still a little firepower left in their ranks, Deep scored twice to complete her hattrick on minute 20 and 26.
Aurangabad netted a further three goals to complete a 10-0 win in the end.
