Jason Carvalho was at his scoring best as he notched the first hat-trick of the Mumbai football season. His fine efforts were instrumental in Mother Theresa Foundation recording a 3-1 win against Durham FC in a Third Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) League – 2012-13, played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Monday.
Farhan Shaikh netted the consolation goal for the losers, who trailed 0-2 at the end of the first half.
Earlier, Virar FC made a cracking start to their campaign as they blanked Vijaylaxmi FC 3-0 in their opening encounter. Manmohan Jagate, Pratik Mallam and Steven Sequeira scored a goal each for the winners.
In another matches, Peter Coutinho struck the winner as Clint SC defeated Ruffians by a 1-0 margin, while Jai Bhavani Kreeda Mandal riding on the lone goal scored by Siddhant S overcame Anand Bal Mitra Mandal by an identical 1-0 margin.
