Empowering the Future: WIFA Conducts Dynamic Referee Course at Cooperage Stadium

In a commendable initiative to nurture young talents and enhance the standard of refereeing in football, the Western India Football Association (WIFA) recently conducted a comprehensive three-day referee course at the iconic Cooperage Stadium.

Led by the Head of Referees, Dhanraj More, along with seasoned experts Rajendra Sawant and Ramesh Subramanyam, the course aimed at equipping the participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for effective refereeing.

The three-day program featured a well-rounded curriculum encompassing theoretical and practical sessions. Participants delved into the intricacies of officiating football matches, gaining valuable insights from experienced instructors. The emphasis was on understanding the rules of the game, decision-making, and effective match management.

On the third day of the course, participants underwent a rigorous fitness test, a crucial aspect of a referee’s readiness for the demands of a football match. The day also included examinations, evaluating the participants on both practical and theoretical aspects of refereeing.

The course attracted a vibrant cohort of 35 enthusiastic participants, all eager to enhance their skills and contribute to the footballing ecosystem as proficient referees. The initiative aligns with WIFA’s commitment to fostering the growth of football at every level, ensuring the sport is played and officiated with the highest standards.

WIFA remains dedicated to providing educational opportunities for football enthusiasts, and this referee course stands as a testament to the organization’s proactive approach in elevating the standards of football officiating in the region. The course not only imparts knowledge but also fosters a sense of camaraderie among the participants, creating a community of skilled referees ready to contribute to the beautiful game.

As the participants conclude the course, WIFA looks forward to witnessing the positive impact of this initiative on the local footballing landscape, confident that these newly trained referees will play a pivotal role in upholding the spirit and fairness of the sport.
