Maharashtra continued their winning form with a convincing 2-0 victory over Uttarakhand in their fourth Group II league match of the Hero 27th Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2022-23, played at the IGIS Complex, Haldwani, Uttarakhand.
Maharashtra started off strong and opened the scoring in just the 2nd minute through a well-worked goal. Bhumika Mane outpaced her marker on the left wing and played Arya More through on goal. Arya made no mistake as she struck a left-footed shot past the Uttarakhand goalkeeper.
Uttarakhand tried to respond immediately, but they were unable to break down the Maharashtra defense. The Maharashtra backline held strong and continued to frustrate the Uttarakhand attack throughout the match.
In the 51st minute, Maharashtra doubled their lead thanks to a lapse in concentration from the Uttarakhand defense. A looping ball inside the box was not cleared properly by the Uttarakhand defenders, and Arya More pounced on the chance to score her second goal of the game.
With this win, Maharashtra booked their place in the next round of the championship with a game in hand. The Sanaya Anklesaria-coached side has now won all four of their Group II matches and is sitting comfortably at the top of the table with 12 points.
Maharashtra’s impressive performance resulted from their excellent teamwork, solid defense, and clinical finishing in front of the goal. They will look to continue their winning run when they face Chandigarh in their final group match on April 8th.
