Grassroots leaders Sameer Shaikh, Shabaz Shaikh and Suryakant Kamane organised a successful festival amassing a huge participation of 200+ kids on Sunday, 23rd February 2014.
Recently trained grassroots leaders Sameer Shaikh who is also AFC C Licence Coach heading the SAI Football Academy in Aundh, Pune was instrumental in organizing the grand event.
The festival witnessed a participation form all the age categories ranging from age 6 to 12. Academy kids of SAI were joined by the locals in huge numbers hitting a record 200 participation. Accompanying them were very enthusiastic parents who were willing to help in every way possible.
The festival began post dawn which was flagged off by the very special guests of the day; the members of the Local school for Blind. Kundan Chandra, The Head of State was overlooking the whole festival said, ‘It was great to see children participate in huge numbers. This was a very well organised festival and all credit goes to the Grassroots leaders who were very active and delivered the program very well.’
CEO of WIFA Mr. Henry Menezes on the festival, ‘Pune is an upcoming district and lot of positive work is being done there. These are encouraging signs for Maharashtra football; such events with such kind of inclusion from all sections of society will help promote the beautiful game in the state.’
