After two defeats, Maharashtra respond with a win in Khelo India Youth Games

The 2nd Edition of Khelo India Youth Games 2019 is underway in Pune. In the field of Football, Maharashtra has bounced back in after suffering two defeats earlier. Here is a brief report of the same:

U21 Boys

Mizoram 3-0 Maharashtra and Odisha 1-4 Maharashtra: In the opening game, Maharashtra lost out to Mizoram 3-0 after the North-Eastern side displayed a dominant performance to overcome Maharashtra. A goal each by David Laltlansanga, Lalruatfela, and Lalnunzama proved enough to snatch a crucial win.

Maharashtra U21 Boys responded quite well in their second game with a fine 4-1 win over Odisha. Sufiyan Shaikh bagged a fantastic hat-trick before Aman Khanna added the fourth goal to seal a resounding win.

U17 Girls

Odisha 2-0 Maharashtra and Bihar 1-2 Maharashtra: In the girls’ category, Maharashtra lost their first game but bounced back in the second game. Odisha got the better of Maharashtra in the first game after registering a 2-0 victory. Susmita and Deepa scored in either half to lead Odisha to glory.

In the second game, Akanksha Kandalkar turned out to be the hero for Maharashtra as she struck twice to give Maharashtra a much-needed win as they look forward to going all the way in Khelo India Youth Games 2019.
