The U-18 Youth League (Maharashtra Zone) went underway yesterday at the Cooperage Stadium. Former India International Steven Dias made his coaching debut with FC Mumbaikars against Football School of India (FSI) with the latter registering a fine 2-0 victory.
Not a start Steven Dias expected but it is surely not the end of the road. Meanwhile, for Football School of India (FSI), a win on an opening day has put them in the front foot in their quest to qualify for the next round. It was in the 18th minute when the deadlock was broken through an own-goal from FC Mumbaikars’ defender Biki Mondal.
FC Mumbaikars didn’t respond well and soaked the pressure as FSI kept attacking for throughout the first-half. Agnelo Fernandes’ side sealed the game in the 69th minute when forward Zaid Khan executed a fine counter-attacking move to claim all three points in a scintillating way.
