It is a no-brainer that Maharashtra has seen a massive rise in the field of football in the recent years. With the help of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association), after conducting various Grassroots Development Programs and Inter-Districts/Youth Championships in the state, we are finally witnessing a huge development in this sport.
Recently, AIFF (All India Football Federation) appointed Firmin D’Souza and Abdul Kadir as the Coach and Goalkeeping Coach for the Indian U-16 Girls team, respectively. Both Firmin and Abdul Kadir joins Yusuf Ansari (India U-19 Goalkeeping Coach) and Floyd Pinto (Indian Arrows Head Coach) who are already representing Maharashtra at the National level.
To add a cherry on the top, earlier this year, AIFF had appointed Former Indian International Abhishek Yadav as a Team Director of the Senior Indian team. Also, a total of 5 Maharashtra players are called up for the India U-16 Girls Camp. Anjali Bharve, Mehak Lobo, Jhanvi Shetty, Priyanka Sujeesh and Sakshi Hiwale made the list from Maharashtra and now they have a huge opportunity to make their names at the very top level.
This marks a new dawn in Maharashtra Football fraternity as more and more personalities are getting exposure at the very top level. Such development will only ensure the best of all the aspiring footballers and coaches from Maharashtra to take this path more seriously. It is after a sheer hard-work and dedication that Maharashtra Football is climbing up the ladder.
Right from the MDFA leagues which has more than 300 clubs, to WIFA’s Inter-District and Youth Championships, Maharashtra has kept on sowing the seeds of its long-term plan which has started reaping benefits for the state and as well as for the National side.
