Jet Airways produced a strong performance to outplay Little Masters 5-
in a lop-sided Division-II encounter of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) league, played at the St Xavier’s ground Parel, on Thursday afternoon. Striker Savio Vaz netted a brace while Rohan Deshmukh, F Francis and Melwin Rosario added a goal each to complete the tally.
Going on the offensive from the outset, Jet Airways made a perfect take-off by scoring twice in the opening three minutes. Deshmukh opened the scoring in the very second minute and a minute later Vaz got the first of his two goals. Francis hit the target in the sixth minute to increase the lead to 3-0 before Vaz netted the fourth in the 15th minute. Melwin Rosario joined in the scoring by slamming home the fifth goal in the 39th minute.
Later in another one-sided affair, Bandra FC blanked Sahyadri Krida Mandal by a facile 4-0 margin. Rohit Verma, Sushant Pawar, Joseph Fernandes and Tarun Nair scored one goal apiece to seal Bandra’s victory.
Earlier in an exciting contest of the day, Falcon Brothers, Mazagaon got the better of Dahisar United by two goals to one. Brian Sams and Cedric Mendes were on target for the Mazagaon side while Merwyn Crasto pulled one back for the losers.
