Varun Visamvaran hit the target twice to power Sports Gurukul to a facile 4-1 win against Phoenix Sports in a Third Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) League – 2012-13, played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Wednesday. Nitesh Shinde and Mayur Sawant got the other two goals for the winners, while Clifton Fernandes scored the lone goal for the losers.
In another encounter of the same division, Rising Stars got the better of Shamboo FC by a 1-0. 1 Ankit Pandey struck the all-important winning goal for the victors.
In a Second Division contest, PRS Bacon FC pulled off a narrow 1-0 win over Super Soccer School ‘B’. Sohel Khan Pathan netted the only goal of the match to ensure Bacon FC walked away with the full three points.
