The Asian Football Confederation after its yearly assessment of various Refereeing Matters in its Member Associations has upgraded AIFF Refereeing from Category 4 to Category 2. The AFC took into account various criteria like Refereeing Development Programme, Functioning of Refereeing Department and Referees Committee, Training Programme, etc.
The assessment paves the way for Indian Referees to get more slots in FIFA List.
AIFF Referees Committee Chairman Mr. A.R. Dev congratulated Col. Gautam Kar, Head of Referees Department who’s also an Elite AFC Match Commissioner and all members of the Referees Committee for their hard work since the inception of the AIFF Referees Department. “It’s an achievement for Indian Referees and shows we are on the right track,” he said.
Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary of the AIFF lauded AIFF Referees Department for their hard work. “Asian Football Confederation’s recognition shows Indian Referees are not lagging behind. I am confident, we will produce better future Referees in the coming years,” he commented.
