West Zone United registered a hard-fought 2-1 win against Vailankanni Boy’s in a keenly contested Third Division match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) League – 2012-13, played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Friday.
Sherwin Sooren and Zaid Merwan for the target for West Zone United, while Vailankanni Boys got their lone goal through the effort of Clifton Colaco,
Earlier in the afternoon, Alfresco FC got the better of Datta Krida Mandal by a narrow 1-0 margin. Striker Ashley Lobo slotted home the lone goal to ensure Alfresco snatch a win and pick up all the three points.
In two other encounters which turned out to be drawn affairs, Maitre Young Stars and Indian Tigers played out a 1-1 stalemate and Saki Village Boys shared the spoils with MMC also playing out a 1-1 draw.
