Western India Football Association’s Raghuvir Khanolkar has been appointed by AIFF as Goalkeeper Coach of the Indian Girls U16 team. The team will take part in the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2013 Qualifiers in Sri Lanka in November.
The AFC ‘B’ License Coach has conducted several AIFF ‘D’ License courses all over the State. WIFA Secretary – Souter Vaz was very happy with the news “It’s an honor to have a coach from Maharashtra go on and coach the India Team. He is a very qualified coach and it is a great opportunity for him to progress.”
Raghu has completed an AFC GK Level One Course and has previously coached the Indian Railways team in two Santosh Trophy campaigns.
“I am really excited to be working with the team in such a prestigious tournament. This is a stepping stone in my career. I want to climb the coaching ladder and fulfill my dream of becoming the Goalkeeping Coach for the Indian National Senior Team.” said an elated Raghu on his appointment.
The training camp for the girls is being held at SAI, Gandhinagar and the team will leave for Sri Lanka in the first week of November. India has been drawn in Group B with Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan.
