A charged up Central Bank of India dished out another authoritative performance to record a thumping 7-1 victory against Soccer XI in a Super Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2012-13, at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel, on Saturday afternoon.
Striker Ubaid Ansari spearheading the Central Bank attack did the star turn by finding the net three times. Ansari’s teammates, Nadeem Khan and Russel Galbano, both played good supporting roles as they equally shared the other four goals to seal Central Bank’s seventh win from eight outings. Sandeep Kaswan netted the lone goal for the losers.
An unbeaten Central Bank, having already qualified for the Super Six stage, showed good understanding as they combined perfectly to repeatedly make inroads into the rival territory. Soon after the kick-off Central Bank, with some clever play, took total control over the proceedings and scored at regular intervals, especially during the first period to take a commanding 6-0 first half lead.
The Soccer XI defenders tried their best to keep the marauding Central Bank attackers in check, but faced with tremendous pressure there was not much that they could do to prevent the bankmen from running away with the match.
Later, Dena Bank tamed Central Railway Mumbai Division by a 4-2 margin. Wendyl Dias fired home a brace while Hement Meher and Balram Patil scored one each for the victors. Veterans Asif Jamal and Kashif Jamal got the goals for the losers.
