Day 2 – Maharashtra State (WIFA) Inter-District Football Championship for Senior Women’s 2024-25

It was a muddy and wet day with dew making the ground slippery. Mumbai had a slow start, conceding an early goal due to a goalkeeper’s error. However, they bounced back before halftime, scoring three goals. In the second half, Mumbai dominated play in Buldhana’s half but managed to add only two more goals. The match ended with a convincing 5-1 win for Mumbai.

Nagpur and Nashik played out a tough, goalless first half. In the second half, Nashik conceded a penalty, and Nagpur capitalized by scoring. They quickly added another goal, sealing the game 2-0 in Nagpur’s favor.

Pune’s relentless attack proved too strong for Thane, with the full-time score ending 6-1. The Thane girls fought hard but couldn’t overcome the powerful Pune side.

Kolhapur dominated from start to finish against Amravati, cruising into the quarterfinals with a 9-0 win.

In other matches, Palghar and Jalgaon fell short of qualifying for the quarterfinals. Gondia and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar advanced with hard-fought 1-0 wins. Despite a strong fight, Palghar’s campaign ended on a narrow loss.
