The inaugural day saw Assam take on Madhya Pradesh in the inaugural encounter at the Goans Sports Association. Assam conquered Madhya Pradesh convincingly in the sweltering humidity of Mumbai with a comfortable 4-1 margin.
For Assam No. 9 Emanuel opened the scoring in the 5th minute while No.10 Thongram Singh scored a double in the 58th and 59th minute. No.16 Pinku Mohan scored late in the game in the 89th minute to close the game on a high note. The solitary goal for Madhya Pradesh was scored by Jersey no. 6 Swapnil Chintaman in the 44th minute.
