Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Jalgoan makes it to the last four of Maharashtra Inter District Championship for U-17 Boys
The quarter-finals of Maharashtra Inter District Championship 2015-16 for Junior Boys concluded on 21st December at Sangli with Nagpur, Pune, Jalgaon and MDFA Mumbai making it into the last four.
Mumbai met Akola in the first quarter final of the Tournament where both the teams had to be separated in the penalty shootout.
With both the teams tied after normal time, Mumbai overcame Akola 4-1 to progress into the next round. Anish Rehman, Shubham Dalvi, Mohammad Atif Ansari and Anas Khan successfully converted their penalty kicks for the victors. Mohsin Khan and Shoeb Khan missed their spot kicks for Akola which send Mumbai into the semis.
The second match too went into the penalties. Jalgaon edged Kohlapur 6-5 in the tie breaker with Sagar, Rohan, Shaikh, Arbaaz, Kunal and Utkarsh burried their spot kicks into the back of the net which pressurized Kohlapur’s penalty takers.
Akshay and Somath proved to be the victim as they missed their penalties, which booked Jalgoan’s place in the semis.
The third match of the day was played between Dhule and Pune. Unexpectedly even this match went into penalties, Pune defeated Dhule 4-2 when both the teams were tied at 2-2 after normal time.
Ajay and Chinmay saw their penalties saved which gave Pune’s Shivraj Pawar a huge opportunity to send them into the Semis, Shivraj calmly converted his penalty to send them through.
In the fourth and final Quarter Finals, Nagpur humiliated Aurangabad 6-0 to make their way into the last four.
Uddesh Chandrawanshi scored four goals in the process, which demolished the entire Aurangabad’s teams.
Azhar Khan and Swapnil were the other scorers for Nagpur. With this win, Nagpur joins the rank of Pune, Mumbai and Jalgoan in the last four which will commence today.
